Physical Education (P.E.)
Our aim for Physical education is for all children to feel inspired to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically-demanding activities through an inclusive, engaging and equitable approach to delivering the curriculum. Children receive a minimum of 2-hours of Physical Education a week and we provide swimming opportunities for all children in Key Stage 2 each year.

P.E. Capacity at Oakfield
We utilise our two indoor halls to deliver high-quality P.E. lessons that align closely with the national curriculum. These versatile spaces allow us to teach a wide range of physical activities, from gymnastics and dance to team games and fitness exercises, in a safe and well-equipped environment. The halls enable us to provide all pupils with regular opportunities to develop their physical skills, coordination, and teamwork, supporting their overall health and well-being.
Our large playground and expansive field provide excellent outdoor spaces for delivering high-quality P.E. lessons that align with the national curriculum. These areas allow pupils to engage in a wide variety of physical activities, including team games, athletics, and outdoor fitness, in a safe and spacious environment. By utilising these outdoor facilities, we ensure pupils have regular opportunities to develop their physical skills, teamwork, and overall well-being while enjoying the benefits of fresh air and active play.
We have invested in three mugger pitches to promote healthy exercise and enrich our physical education curriculum. These versatile outdoor spaces provide pupils with excellent opportunities to develop their fitness, teamwork, and ball skills through a variety of sports and activities. The mugger pitches also enable us to host inter and intra-school competitions, fostering a spirit of healthy competition and community engagement among our pupils.
Our outdoor gym equipment plays a vital role in promoting healthy lifestyles and enriching our physical education curriculum. This accessible facility encourages pupils to engage in regular physical activity beyond structured lessons, helping them develop strength, coordination, and fitness in a fun and social environment. By integrating the outdoor gym into our PE programme and break times, we provide pupils with additional opportunities to build lifelong habits of active living and well-being.
