Curriculum Assessment
At Oakfield, we recognise that assessment plays a crucial role in shaping a child's educational journey. It provides vital information for teachers, students, and parents, and contributes to a more effective and responsive learning environment.
We use a variety of both summative and formative assessments in school to provide a balanced and effective way to support children’s learning and development. Each type of assessment plays a distinct role, and together they help create a fuller picture of a child's progress & strengths which we can celebrate, as well as areas of need for us to give consideration to.
Formative Assessment
Ongoing assessments that happen during the learning process.
Examples: Observations, quizzes, classroom discussions, exit tickets, peer assessments, verbal feedback, retrieval.
Summative Assessment
Evaluations that happen after a learning period to judge overall performance and measure progress.
Examples: End-of-unit tests, national standardised tests, speech & language intervention.
